and we've made it to 1 year :-)

So, this past weekend was a strange one at best. My schedule was all mixed up because I needed to be at an all day training on Friday, and had off Thursday. On top of that, we were going to the last craft show of the season, and also celebrating our first anniversary. So, here's how things went:

Thursday: I went to the doctor for my foot, and finally am out of the boot, but I still need to be careful about what I wear for a while. turns out that the boot was the wrong thing to be wearing anytime we went to craft shows and the like, because of the uneven footing. so, I'm in sneakers for lots of walking, and regular shoes for anything else. And now that I'm out of that horrible boot, my foot is starting to do better. With luck, I'll be able to start walking to exercise again soon - goal now is next week. Gave hubby his anniversary present (a mini-donut cooker) a couple of days early. Other than that, with an entire night free, I did a whole lot of nothing. Doh...

Friday: Woke up at the glorious hour of 2:20 AM. 3 hours of sleep with which to face my day, go me! All day training went well and was fun, but I'd still rather have been at home having a normal weekend routine (sleeping!). I was tired all day and ready for bed as soon as I got home, but hubby wouldn't let me as he wanted me to sleep that night. Again, a whole lot of nothing done.

Saturday: Hubby tried out his new toy, and made some of the most solid donuts ever! He seemed to be happy with them though I was only able to eat one because it was that solid (and with much milk). After that, we took off for the local ren faire, the one my family had a booth at for a couple of years. It's recently been purchased by a new company based out of Denver, so I wasn't sure what to expect this year. Turns out no matter what I had expected, I would have been disappointed. The faire had less booths than it used to, even if they were almost all permanent buildings that looked nice, there were just less of them. There were more games for the kids to play (and for the festival to make money from), but there was less variety of everything. I saw duplicates of almost every booth; under different ownership, but selling the same crap. Really, how many fairy wing booths do you need at one show? I did find a handmade puzzle that I like, of a koi (which for those people that aren't into anime, is frequently used as a pun - koi is also the word for love in Japanese). A number of the crafters that I had worked beside were gone, and there was no local talent at the show anymore. Apparently the new festival owners don't feel that the local talent is talented enough. Funny, but the local talent never had to beg for money the same way all of the out-of-towners do; people gave them money because they liked their show. In any case, left show feeling very disappointed, and not interested in ever returning to that particular ren faire. After the faire, we went over to the park where we had gotten married, and hung out at our pavilion for a while, just enjoying the weather (which was gorgeous, unlike last year ). I really didn't want to go home, so we went driving for a while, and ended up at the other side of the county, near Donogal, where we played mini-golf and had fun in general. Scores for the day - archery at the ren faire winner: Me; mini-golf later on winner: Hubby :-)

Sunday: Yay, our 1 year anniversary!!! Hopefully a ton more to go!! By this point, my confused schedule was catching up with me big time, and I ended up finally making up for lack of sleep the other days, and slept in very late, so poor hubby was left on his own all morning. I finally woke up and got to spend some time with my sweetie, and we went out to dinner at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, which is a wonderful restaurant in town. When we got to the restaurant, I got a very nice surprise; Hubby had gotten my flowers that were close to our wedding flowers as my gift, which was very unexpected ( and wonderful!!!). They were even done by the same florist, which means even more when you know that hubby thinks she's insane and can't stand to talk to her :P They were beautiful, and my only regret was that they wouldn't all fit into the vase when we got home. I have most of them though, and I will post a photo once I figure out how to do so!

Monday: Back to the normal grind; hubby went to work, I slept normal hours and then went to work. This is the last week to get annual reviews done, so that's the focus here this week.

Today is a much better day than yesterday at least; I have my reviews all written, and the appointments made to go over them. Plus, before I came in, I was able to get my website photos officially copyrighted FINALLY!!! Next is to scan stuff and work on the photos I haven't touched yet, including the ones of hubby and his bro "fencing".

And Wednesday shall Suck...

So, today was one of the worst-luck days I've had in a very long time. I spent the early morning looking for hubby's wedding ring, which he lost last night after I was already at the office, and which turned out to be a no-go. So, I crawled into bed after setting my alarm for really early since I needed to come into the office 3 hours early. I woke up disoriented some hours later wondering why it felt like I'd overslept, and immediately picked up my phone to check the time. My phone, which had 3 bars of battery life when I went to bed had died sometime while I slept so that I didn't even get the phone call at 11, and was waking up 1.5 hours later than I planned, and 45 mins after I had planned to be out the door. Hubby gets home just before I leave, and walks in telling me that it's about to start raining, but as he's dry, I'm not too worried. Of course, the sky's open up just as I walk out the door, and it's the type of rain that umbrellas do no good for, as it's coming from all directions. In the less than 2 mins it took me to get into the SUV, I was as drenched as if I'd stood; fully clothed, in a shower. Of course today is the day I chose to wear a white skirt too, to add to my joy of a soaking. So, I spent the entire drive in cooking myself with the heater, trying to dry my clothes enough to not flash my office. This worked decently well on my front half, not so much on my back. Of course, turns out today there's a hockey game in town, so my expected drive on 60 minutes turns into 90 mins, and I arrive to work an hour later than I had planned, still soaking wet to start my day.

The one piece of good news is that hubby found his ring, so I don't have to dig through the trash can tomorrow. Otherwise, I just want to go home and ignore that today ever happened...

Is it Friday yet?

I'm not really sure why I'm wishing that it was Friday yet; esp since this Friday I work, which means I don't even have 2 days off together. Having Thursday and Saturday off is not the same as Friday and Saturday, but it'll have to do. Thursday is going to be a bit busy this week, as I have a doctor's apt to see what's going on with my foot (it's not healing the way it should be, and I just got my 2nd set of x-rays for it), the hubby and I are going to make a casserole or two and store them, I'm going to be scanning all sorts of stuff since hubby picked up the scanner from our friends, and I'll be working on copyrighting some of my images. Add cleaning up the house a bit and I think I'll have enough to keep me busy! The house isn't too bad, but there are storage containers and the like to put away, presents to store, and more. And somewhere, while doing all of this, I need to set up an account or two and sell some of the beading supplies; hopefully on ebay, along with some other stuff that I'm no longer going to keep. I really need to pare down some of the stuff in my life; I've been clearing some stuff out, but there's still a bit too much! This of course means taking photos of the items, and then editing the photos as needed.

progress report: on trackish; we'll see next week once it's been 2 straight weeks!

The unexpected posting :-)

This is an extra posting; I hadn't planned on posting today :-)

This weekend a whole lot of not much got done unfortunately. We went to a craft show where I did at least find one Christmas/solstice present, but aside from light cleaning, that was about it. I'm happy to say though that I worked a little on my to-do list - I got my computer working properly again after it had gotten a virus. So, this week I'll be able to work on my photos without fear! I've also rearranged my photos on my computer, as I was running out of room. I need to pare some of them down, and put them on my external drive.

Next weekend is my hubby and my anniversary, so we have a busy weekend planned. We're off to the ren faire on Saturday, followed by a picnic where we got married. On Sunday we're going out to eat, and I'm not working, so it will be very nice. We still need to start defrosting year old cake though - I'm sure we'll each take a bit of it and then toss the rest, but I'll try to get at least one photo first!

Otherwise, so far the diet is continuing. I ate one thing at the festival that I shouldn't have (cheese sticks) but other than that, I had turkey leg and drinks only. Hubby ate his way around the festival as normal - I swear he lives to taste everything he can at these things :P I did pick up a new soup mix; we'll see how this one goes, but at least the broccoli is in large chunks, and there are other identifiable foods in the mix. I haven't wanted to make a from scratch broccoli cheese soup yet, so here's hoping (since the other ones I've tried have tasted like crap).

That's all she wrote for now.

blogging, and clean-up time

OK, so for me to start a photography business, I need to get used to blogging about myself. I have a rather poor track record when it comes to blogging on a consistent basis, but I'm going to try to do better. I'm also going to be making some changes to the blog, as some things have definitely changed in the last several years. I made some light modifications today already, however there will be more as I have the time to do so.

So, an update on my life as it stands right now, and the goals that I want to have completed:

I have finished college, and since then I've done nothing to start up my business, not even to the point of sending in my photos for consideration by different organizations.
Goal: within the next 2 weeks, get my photos (that I want to license) sent in to the copyright office. After that, start sending those photos to the companies I wish to license them through.
Goal: update my website, including switching to new hosting within the next month.

I want to lose weight (again, still, and yet), however I have been hampered by a foot issue for the last 2 1/2 months
Goal: within 1 month, start walking for exercise again. Also, continue eating salads and other healthy homemade meals.

The house is decently clean, but it's not very organized and hasn't been for a while.
Goal: within 1 month, get the house organized. Remove any unwanted items, stow packing materials and packed up items, organize a packed items list. Clean up the house as I go along.

I can't find anything on my computer, and am running out of space again
Goal: organize my computer and move items not often accessed or needed onto my hard drives.

I have an e-reader and lots of e-books, but I can't read some of them.
Goal: go through my ebooks and clean out the ones that I don't need or can't use.

Really, as I'm sure you can tell, my life has been pretty normal and boring for the past several months. This is wonderful when compared to what life was life during school, however I've found that without the stress of having no time to do anything driving me, I really don't seem to get as much down. Please wish me luck in changing this habit, since life doesn't come with a built in deadline for everything!

really, like really...?

We have a lot of people hit on the female operators late at night (I know, go figure), but today's took the cake. This has to be the corniest pick-up line ever:

Boy: I need help with my alphabet, you think you can help me?
Boy: I keep putting "u" and "i" together.

from all girls watching the chat: massive groans, followed by "can she hang up on him?"

Bonus points for making every girl in the office laugh at the stupidity of the boy
Chances that any girl here would ever fall for such a line: absolutely nil
