waiting for the return of spring

So, the weather decided to get cold again, and right on cue, I got sick It's not too bad; it's more annoying than anything else, except for the fact that it's been a week straight now and I still haven't gotten rid of it. To make things better, my fever came back today, and I'm at work today with only a newbie for co-worker, which means no way can I call off, and I have to be functional enough to do my job, 1/2 another person's job, and also help the newbie with his job. Tomorrow I get to repeat this same process, except with 2 newbies instead of one. Yesterday we had our work Christmas party, and it was a good one, especially since I wore a dress that I last wore to my cousin's wedding, which was about 4-5 years ago, and that I haven't been able to fit into since then . I got a lot of compliments, both there and later from my friends at a 2nd party, so all was good.

Other than that, not much is going on. I finally got the house decorated for the holidays - funny how I enjoy decorating for a holiday and a religion that I don't even believe in, but at least the decorations help with the winter blues - and have sent off the presents for the western 1/2 of my family. The family here has decided not to exchange presents this year, so all that's left is my friends, and one of those is already done as well. I'm still working on Pandy's last gift - this bug has made me a bit slow to do anything on it, but my goal tonight is to work on it for at least 1 1/2 hrs before I collapse into bed. The house is a bit of a mess right now as well, but, priorities are in place, since the house could have been cleaned by 5 maids, and I'd still find something that was a mess about it :P I will not let my OCD spoil Pandy's present!

Things are going well with my new roomie; he's proven himself to not be too messy, which is good, and he's a good cook! We made a deal - he'll do the cooking, and I'll do the baking - I think I got the better end of that deal, but I also think I do enough cleaning that it will all even out in the end :-)

Anyhow, I want to read for at least 1/2 my lunch break, so tis all for now!

after the doctor's

So, I had my checkup with my endocrinologist last week, and this time, instead of trying to get me on 12 extra pills/day, she's put me on 3 extra pills/day. This is a both a manageable expense, and something that's not going to be too hard for me to swallow, though I am now able to take my pills with propel rather than requiring juice. Not bad, going from unable to swallow pills to using propel to do so in 1 1/2 years, eh? :-) In any case, she's got me on green tea extract and on another DHEA supplement. So far, after 2 days, I am noticing a difference. I'm not sure if it's due to the combination, or the caffeine in the green tea, or what, but I have more energy, in fact my energy levels are finally starting to approach what I remember having before my hormones got all messed up! Also, it seems to be affecting my appetite, in a good way. Even though my friends think I don't eat enough (and one at least insists on yelling at me just about every chance she gets), the simple fact is, if you're not losing weight, then your body is getting enough calories from what you eat. The only way to lose weight is to not eat enough to maintain your body, so, having my appetite reduced, without being hungry or cranky, is a very good thing. Extra energy on top of that is even better. Hopefully this will still be the case in 3 weeks, and my body won't have adjusted and sent me back into a slump! Wish me luck, I can use it - I have a new goal of 10 lbs by Christmas, starting last week, which is a decent but still healthy amount!
