after the accident

So, for anyone that didn't know, I was in a nasty car accident about 2 weeks ago. My back is finally mostly back to normal, just in time for my new thyroid med to kick in and make it difficult to eat anything. But, it is helping me lose weight, and since that's one of the reasons I'm willing to take it, I'll survive. On the plus side, my job is hiring - they finally posted the positions, which means that I'm a step closer to where I want to be, and I've bought a car. I get to pick it up on either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when it comes in. It's the same car I had before, minus the sunroof, and a newer year, so I know I'll like it :-) That's about all that's new and newsworthy in my life at the moment, but I'll try to remember to update more regularly - they took away our access to these sorts of things at work which means I have to do this in my not-so-copious spare time :-(

flu, right on cue....

So, I've been getting sick for about the last week now, and right on clue, the flu has struck. There hasn't been much going on lately aside from homely things, but on the plus side, I had my carpets cleaned (unexpectedly) on Wednesday, and on Thursday (when I really got hammered by this stupid whatever0, we had a meeting at work which was good news. We're not going to be having any offshore people, instead we're going to hire some people to work with us, which is great, since it means I'm going to be in a bit more of a supervisory position. I also now have a deadline for the project I've been working on, which in my case helps, since I work better under pressure. So, yeah, go me :-) Best of all, my review is coming up in October, and I've been kicking ass and taking names, so I'm hoping that will translate into a decent raise. I'm hoping for a 5-7% raise, which isn't unreasonable at all, especially with the projects I've been in charge of as well as my normal work. A title would be really nice as well, but I understand that may take a bit longer to come. We're going to be hiring some more people after this wave, in a few months as well, so at last I have hope ago, and my job may be going somewhere good. On top of a plan to get every debt I have except my college loans paid in full by this time next year, with also having the money in my account to cover a bit of fun or just for savings, this next year may be my best year yet. Now all I have to accomplish is the weight loss - I know I've lost fat, my measuring tape and clothes have told me that, but it hasn't hit the scale yet due to the muscle gain, and being sick anyways has brought the exercise temp. grinding to a halt.

However, Pandy, your pants are now fixed :-) And, since I have a glorious day off on monday due to the holiday, I plan to get the quilt that's been sitting in a box since 1992-1993 done, though I'm not going to actually quilt it, I'm just going to tack it done in spots instead I think. Which means (drum roll) 2, count 'em, 2 less projects cluttering my house And only about 4 more to go - 2 quilts, and 2 knitted blankets. The sooner I get them done, the happier I'll be, since at this point I really want an uncluttered living room again!

Anyhows, before I get too dizzy again, time to finish vacuming.
