and we've made it to 1 year :-)

So, this past weekend was a strange one at best. My schedule was all mixed up because I needed to be at an all day training on Friday, and had off Thursday. On top of that, we were going to the last craft show of the season, and also celebrating our first anniversary. So, here's how things went:

Thursday: I went to the doctor for my foot, and finally am out of the boot, but I still need to be careful about what I wear for a while. turns out that the boot was the wrong thing to be wearing anytime we went to craft shows and the like, because of the uneven footing. so, I'm in sneakers for lots of walking, and regular shoes for anything else. And now that I'm out of that horrible boot, my foot is starting to do better. With luck, I'll be able to start walking to exercise again soon - goal now is next week. Gave hubby his anniversary present (a mini-donut cooker) a couple of days early. Other than that, with an entire night free, I did a whole lot of nothing. Doh...

Friday: Woke up at the glorious hour of 2:20 AM. 3 hours of sleep with which to face my day, go me! All day training went well and was fun, but I'd still rather have been at home having a normal weekend routine (sleeping!). I was tired all day and ready for bed as soon as I got home, but hubby wouldn't let me as he wanted me to sleep that night. Again, a whole lot of nothing done.

Saturday: Hubby tried out his new toy, and made some of the most solid donuts ever! He seemed to be happy with them though I was only able to eat one because it was that solid (and with much milk). After that, we took off for the local ren faire, the one my family had a booth at for a couple of years. It's recently been purchased by a new company based out of Denver, so I wasn't sure what to expect this year. Turns out no matter what I had expected, I would have been disappointed. The faire had less booths than it used to, even if they were almost all permanent buildings that looked nice, there were just less of them. There were more games for the kids to play (and for the festival to make money from), but there was less variety of everything. I saw duplicates of almost every booth; under different ownership, but selling the same crap. Really, how many fairy wing booths do you need at one show? I did find a handmade puzzle that I like, of a koi (which for those people that aren't into anime, is frequently used as a pun - koi is also the word for love in Japanese). A number of the crafters that I had worked beside were gone, and there was no local talent at the show anymore. Apparently the new festival owners don't feel that the local talent is talented enough. Funny, but the local talent never had to beg for money the same way all of the out-of-towners do; people gave them money because they liked their show. In any case, left show feeling very disappointed, and not interested in ever returning to that particular ren faire. After the faire, we went over to the park where we had gotten married, and hung out at our pavilion for a while, just enjoying the weather (which was gorgeous, unlike last year ). I really didn't want to go home, so we went driving for a while, and ended up at the other side of the county, near Donogal, where we played mini-golf and had fun in general. Scores for the day - archery at the ren faire winner: Me; mini-golf later on winner: Hubby :-)

Sunday: Yay, our 1 year anniversary!!! Hopefully a ton more to go!! By this point, my confused schedule was catching up with me big time, and I ended up finally making up for lack of sleep the other days, and slept in very late, so poor hubby was left on his own all morning. I finally woke up and got to spend some time with my sweetie, and we went out to dinner at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, which is a wonderful restaurant in town. When we got to the restaurant, I got a very nice surprise; Hubby had gotten my flowers that were close to our wedding flowers as my gift, which was very unexpected ( and wonderful!!!). They were even done by the same florist, which means even more when you know that hubby thinks she's insane and can't stand to talk to her :P They were beautiful, and my only regret was that they wouldn't all fit into the vase when we got home. I have most of them though, and I will post a photo once I figure out how to do so!

Monday: Back to the normal grind; hubby went to work, I slept normal hours and then went to work. This is the last week to get annual reviews done, so that's the focus here this week.

Today is a much better day than yesterday at least; I have my reviews all written, and the appointments made to go over them. Plus, before I came in, I was able to get my website photos officially copyrighted FINALLY!!! Next is to scan stuff and work on the photos I haven't touched yet, including the ones of hubby and his bro "fencing".
