life after class

So, I've finished my summer course, and it was fun, and I got an "a", so all is happy in the end. However, the middle was miserable :P the camp was cool, it was on a lake which meant much water (and we all know water is the key to my happiness, however the problem with it being on a lake is all that lovely (still) water is the perfect breeding grounds for bugs. All kinds of bugs. Biting bugs. And, since through my own genetic pattern, I don't have the lovely, lovely hormones that act as natural bug repellents, I got bitten. A lot. On my right leg, below the knee alone, I counted over 60 bug bites during the 1st week of class . It took me all 3 weeks to find a bug spray that works, it's almost 100% DEET, just what I've always wanted to bathe in after all.... Aside from that, the class was enjoyable, the food was decent, and the bunk beds sucked. I'm so happy to be home :-) And my kitties seem happy to see me again as well.

And, since I'm now back at home, and presumably have free time again, I've decided to fill up all the time getting projects done. To that extent, I'm almost finished making the rest of the rabbit skin pouches I started 10 years ago. I've got one quilt that only needs the backing and the batting, and anther quilt that I just started, since the fabric's been around for a while. I'm also starting to go through my house and get rid of stuff that I no longer want to need, since I'm betting that I'll be moving again in about a year or so, and I don't feel like dragging a bunch of crap with me. Books are all well and good, but some of the other stuff needs to go. The only thing I’m missing at this point to fill a house is a 2nd bedroom set. Of course, I want to replace my current bedroom set, but I don't think I want to hang on to the old set, since I want to start fresh in my life, and clearing out old memories and associations will be a good start for that.

In addition to clearing out old stuff, I'm doing a few things around the apartment in other ways as well. My landlady gave me permission to remove the wallpaper from the downstairs bathroom. The stuff that was in there was straight from the 60's, this horrid brown, red, and blue flowered crap, and even the blue wasn't a shade I liked. So I spent yesterday removing it, and thus discovered that whoever invented wallpaper needs to be shot! They didn't even have the decency to paint the walls before putting the paper up, which meant after I removed the paper, I got to spackle the walls, and put my bathroom off-limits to cats and guests alike, and today I get to paint. Happy happy joy joy. At least it will be a nice, neutral shade (white) that won't clash with my bathroom colors of white, purple, and green :-)

Also in my life currently, yesterday marked the 1 year anniversary of my breakup from my long term b-friend, so I've been without a man (romantically) in my life for a year. And, I think I'm finally getting to the point of being ready to date again, though I'll prob change my mind again before that happens. I'm still hoping that my ex starts dating before I do, since I'd like us to be able to be friends, and he's already told me that he doesn't know if we can be friends once I start dating again - of course that was a while ago that he said that, but still.

Aside from that, life proceeds as normal. With luck, I'll get some projects done, and start feeling like my house isn't full of crap that I don't want or need anymore!
